[VHFcontesting] 222 MHz Activity Evening January 6, 2026

It seems that there hasn't been a 222 MHz activity night since about a
year ago, so we should all plan to make some  noise on 222.100 for the
first activity night of 2026. And what a night it could be.  The Moon is
rising early in the evening so there are all sorts of possibilities to
try to hear some EME activity if you are so inclined.  Moonrise in the
midwest is about 0130 UT. My Moonrise is at about 0020 UT or right after
the local 222 MHz activity begins.  NH6Y in Hawaii would get some Moon
time starting at 0700UT! That is a tad late for me, but California
Moonrise at at about 0400 UT. Tuesdays are a good time to check out your
222 gear and I am hoping that many of the EMEers will show up as the
Moon rises and look for contacts.  I am always up for a try with horizon
only stations. If you want to try, let me know ASAP, and we can set
something up for Tuesday.

I was saddened to hear that N1GC has passed away. Gary lived North of
Charlotte, NC in EM95. He was always out of range for me, but it was
great to have him so active on 222 MHz being a beacon for many stations
to detect band openings up and down the coast. He was one of the
regulars and his silent key will be missed.

so, get ready for Tuesday evening. If you have EME capability, why not
get on and make some noise. I will hang around after 0200 UT . PJ4MM's
Moonrise is at 00:00 UT. Stations in New England with no elevation have
a nice window with PJ4MM at his Moonrise.
