First of all I'd like to thank everyone that helped me with this problem.

I'm just posting this in case one of you runs into this problem with Win2000
and a Voice Modem...

When I installed WIN2000 on this computer it must have detected the voice
modem before the sound card and set the voice modem as Soundcard 1 (unimodem
half-duplex audio device) and my soundcard as sound card 2 (turtle beach
montego II). This caused writelog to try to get the input audio from the
modem, I discovered this by putting this line in my ini file, this causes
Writelog to look for audio on the 2nd soundcard.

SoundBoardIndex=1

When I restarted Writelog it received RTTY fine but couldn't open sound card
for transmit.
I opened SBControl and couldn't adjust the levels (they were greyed out).

Next, I opened the device manager and disabled the unimodem half-duplex
audio device (voice modem) and restarted Win2000. I set the
SoundBoardIndex=0 (sound card 1) and started Writelog.

SUCCESS!!!

I can now transmit and receive using my sound card.

It may be possible to get Win2000 to reverse the "sound card" order for
these two devices by uninstalling the modem, rebooting, and reinstalling the
modem (while leaving the sound card installed of course). I don't use a
voice modem and it's midnight here so I'm leaving mine disabled.

Hope this saves someone else a few hours of troubleshooting (about 4 hours
for me).

Thanks again,
George / KF9YR
