[WriteLog] Belkin USB serial FSK

Preliminary observations with WB6BIG's kind loan of some Belkin USB
serial adapters demonstrates that they not only read the 1000MP CAT
control OK, but they WILL do 5-bit Baudot code. However, testing just
now shows some kind of "stuttering" FSK sigs to the Belkin serial
device.

If I just hit ALT-K and idle, the RS-232 TD lites and the monitored
tones are normal. However, if I type, there are long periods (?5-10
sec) of JUST idle, then a burst of data, then more idle. The data
bursts correspond with serial lite activity on the Belkin front panel.
Seems like the computer is sending the data in bursts for some reason.
If I hit a function key, sometimes I get just a few diddles instead of
the whole buffer. If I press and HOLD the function key (i.e. sned lots
of buffers), then I hear more diddling, but of course, it's trying to
send several buffers instead of just one. This isn't a Writelog
problem, but I hope you guys might have some ideas. If the Belkins work
for FSK, they would be great to use with Writelog FSK! The USB serial
port is set in the WIN98 Device Manager to 9600-n-8-1 and I've tried all
flow controls. The settings just mentioned have always worked on the
desktop. Tnx!
