[WriteLog] Autosave

Good morning.

The quick answer is "you can't". Autosave does just that, it's like hitting
CTRL/S. Any new entries get saved to the currently open file e.g. CQWW CW
2001.wl

That said, there are a couple of things that come to mind. First, I would
think that what you are trying to accomplish is slipping a copy of the file
off to a "safe" place during the contest. If you "save as" and specify the
a: drive, you can do this. BUT remember to immediately do a "save as" to the
normal path or you will wind up logging all your QSO's to your floppy drive.
The other minor problem is that to do the second "save as" you have to
remember where your original log was in the first place. That usually also
requires typing a good sized string into the appropriate entry window, prone
to errors during the heat of battle. If you are running Windows 98, you can
set up a "SUBST" string so that the file on the hard drive has a shortcut
name of say drive H. Then the "save as" keying becomes either save as
A:\filename or H:\filename. Still awkward, but worked fine for us on Field
Day when non Writelog proficient ops were on duty.

A better solution if you can do it, is to set up a second computer on a
network. Then the second computer will have a copy of the log available at
all times. If the second computer can be also located at the operating
position (laptop), you can also use it to display secondary windows like run
rate, score summary, Geoclock, packet window etc.

Hope this helps.
