[WriteLog] Write Log Setup/Configuration saving

Hi Bill and friends,

Is it possible that the setup/configuration information you are losing is
stored in the log file instead of the SAVE CONFIGURATION file?

-	-	-

Early versions of Write Log kept all the port setup, window positions,
etc. in a file saved with the SETUP/SAVE CONFIGURATION command.
Later versions (I think early V10.xx or possibly 9.xx) started to
keep some information in the actual log file INSTEAD of the configuration
file. This allowed you to set your station up differently for each
contest or mode. The idea is sound, although I'm not sure how the
implementation was done.

My experience is that if I create a log file and save it after I
have did a SETUP/SAVE CONFIGURATION then I can shut down the computer
and later reload the file and get the same setup.

If I modify the configuration or load a different log file, then
I see differences when I reload the original file. My dilemma is
that I don't understand what information is kept in the log file
and what is kept in the configuration files. Another concern is the
'default' configuration - - If I create a new setup for a new contest
that I've never done before - - What baseline or default configuration
is used before I start making changes?

Are there any configuration items that exist in both the log file and
the setup/configuration file? If so, which one takes precedence over
the other.

Yes, I posed more questions than answers but perhaps others can
help us better understand how my favorite software works in detail.
