I gave the new interface between Writelog and my 505dsp a workout this
weekend.

The interface worked perfectly. It sure was fun to have the packet
window and bandmap open, double click on a mult and have the rig jump to
the correct freq. It also did a fine job with split freq's, i.e. 40
meters. However, for split to work correctly the rig had to be in split
first, writelog would not put it into split. But thats ok.

Anyways, if your a contester and have a 505dsp, Writelog is the way to
go.

One other point. If you have one computer, you will be jumping between
windows. For example, click on the 505dsp window and tune the rig, find
a station to work, click on the writelog window and log the station,
then click on the 505 window and start tuning again.

I solved this problem by loading the 505dsp software on my laptop and
connecting the laptop to the home network. I mapped the laptop hard
drive and told writelog that the interface file resided on the mapped
drive. I was able to tune/control the rig with the laptop and have the
cursor in the call entry field of writelog at the same time. Sure made
things work well.

By the way this was all done via remote 505dsp.
