[WriteLog] Changing Screen Configurations

Yes, I think you can accomplish what you want--different screen
layouts for each position in the network. If you follow the
network setup instructions in WL's help file, all the positions
in the network begin with identical screen layouts. The
instructions call for preparing a single empty .WL file beforehand
and copy it to all the networked PC's before bringing up
the network-this is still highly recommended! But if
you later change the layout on one PC, WL does not exchange
the screen layout over the network, so that PC will keep
that layout.

When you do a File Save, WL saves its current screen layout
in the .WL file, and restores it on File Open (with one
exception). Even though the log is repeated across
the network, it is still important that each position do
a File Save regularly, and not just because of the
screen layout--changes to CW memories since the
last File Save will be lost, for example. Restarting a PC
will restore the saved layout from the .WL file at File
Open time.

Another way to maintain different screen layouts at
each position is to take advantage of the fact that WL also
saves its screen layout in its .INI file when you do a
Setup Save Configuration. When WL first comes up, that's
the layout it uses. When you do a File Open, if you also
hold down the CTRL key, WL does NOT read screen layout
from the .WL file, so the .INI layout "wins". This CTRL
features is also useful if you open someone else's .WL
file--especially if they were running a larger monitor
than you are.
