I fixed it! The ThinkPad was apparently configured to use COM 1 on either a non-standard address or non-standard interrupt (above 10 I think). I set both the address and interrupt to default and then re-started the computer. It came back up as address 3f8 and interrupt 4. Writelog is now happy! See you in the next contest, Dave KG0US
