Another observation:
Some contesters, myself included, think of a contest as an event where 
the goal is to maximize score. Including my name in your exchange 
slows down my rate during peak band openings, by including 
unnecessary info. It's as bad as a string of RYs :.)

If AA5AU beats me by 3 QSOs, I would think it could have been the 
other way around if BARRY wasn't part of the exchange (DON only has 
3 letters!) 

On occasion, I do send a personal message, and when I do, I use the 
ALT-K window (or my paddles on CW). How personal is it when it's 
automated for all your QSOs?
