[WriteLog] Win ME and throughput

Have noticed an increasing number of posts about WinME bogging down using
running WriteLog in a contest.  Some seem to attribute the problem to
WriteLog when WinME may be the culprit.

While not running stations fast enough at this station to notice it in
WriteLog, I have noticed WinME bogging down during extended software or
multimedia downloads, long periods of activity in UseNet newsgroups, and
with some other MS applications.  Is this something peculiar to WinME?
Didn't have this experience with Win95.

Has anyone had enough experience with XP to notice whether this throughput
problem is resolved in the new OS?
