Thanks for the many replies. It's all good information. From Jim's
comments about what his manual shows as TNC FSK OUT, I can see
this is not the first time a manual I downloaded from the Internet was
not the same as manuals being included with the product. It seems the
manuals with the products are more updated and precise. This was
the case with the RIGblaster Plus manual that I downloaded last week.

It appears there is no special "trick" to get FSK to work with the Mark V
or any of the other FT-1000 models.

I'll keep working with the gentleman, who does have RTTY working AFSK
with the radio. I hope he doesn't have a bad radio. When one of my TS-870's
got hit by lightning a couple years ago, it took out the FSK circuit. I tested
it by shorting and opening the FSK input to the radio and there was no shift.

It just so happened that ZD9ZM was due up on RTTY (and before I bought
the 2nd TS-870), so I connected the radio AFSK and it worked. I ended
up working the ZD9 AFSK instead of FSK. Yes, I hate AFSK, but even I
have to resort to it occasionally! hi By the way, I used AFSK for many years
before I had a radio that had FSK (IC-751A - one of the best FSK radios
ever made!).

73 & again thanks for all the replies.
