Yes the W5XD keyer works very well for SO2R and frees up all the ports you 
now have tied up for keying  from the computer. In addition to providing 
keying lines for two radios the keyer also accepts paddles for doing 
"fills" and can be used as a stand alone keyer during non contest operation.

In its simplest form you could do CW - SO2R with only two COM ports (no 
LPTs' needed either). One for each radio. The keyer shares the Radio 1 COM 
port for passing program and keyboard generated CW.

  Go to the Writelog WEB page and follow the links for SO2R setup for 
suggested wiring diagrams. Note that the PDF file there is more complicated 
because it covers RTTY setup as well as CW . It also handles switching 
headset audio between radios as well as allowing split audio.
