Thanks for the response.

I resolved the problem but the solution was not that illuminating.  I simply
reloaded Writelog on the Win2K machine and it worked great.

This is almost certainly a security setting--the Win98 side
is happy to send its log contents to all comers, but the W2K
is not so readily convinced. The comments about XP here apply
to W2K as well:

One trick you might try first is enabling the Guest account
on your W2K system (roughly midway down that page).

(Isn't it ironic that Microsoft has built a system that any
idiot can write a virus they can't keep out of their system,
but try writing software that both vendor and customer want
to use and it figures out a way to lock them out...obviously
some issues here Mr. Gates' crew thought unimportant at the
time :-)
