You might want to consider PCMCIA serial ports.  They seem to be
available on EBay for reasonable prices, and work very well, in my
opinion.  Be careful about OS compatibity, though.

   I have a Toshiba 2800 and it has no serial ports.

   I am wondering it there is any good USB to Serial Port adapters out there
