Read my original post. It's not that the file doesn't open. It does 
open, and most of the document displays fine. 

The first box at the top left of the page is empty. No text. Look at 
later pages. There are grey boxes with no text in them. Right?  

I have Acrobat 4, 5, and 6 here, and the document looks the same 
in all three.
