[WriteLog] WIN2000 Question

The key may be what speed the KAM defaults to.

Perhaps it's different from what your Win2k install of Writelog is configured for?

If it's not running at the same speed as you are "talking" it won't respond.

Not sure, but it seems like something to check.

Subject: [WriteLog] WIN2000 Question

A bit more elaboration on my previous question.

I am using the KAM+. This initializes and comes up every time under WIN98. However, when I boot up with WIN2000 (same PC, dual boot OSs), the KAM will not initialize. The Writlog.ini files are identical under 98 and 2000. Ports are set to 4800 in both files and the KAM itself is set to 4800 baud.

However, if I boot up with WIN2000, then start the KAM with "PACTERM for Windows" (a TNC program from KanTronics), then close the program, then start Writelog, the KAM will initialize just fine. I can then close Writelog and reopen it as many times as I want and it will initialize the KAM. However, if I shut down the PC or reboot for any reason, then I am back to no initialization.

PACTERM can be set to leave the KAM in either terminal or host mode upon closing. I have tried it both ways, and it doesn't make a difference.

Port settings are at default levels in both 98 and 2000 in Device Manager.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,
