Rick, there is a standard Windows shortcut for erasing a word, which
is Ctrl-W. This works for clearing fields in WL. Even though I went to
the trouble of verifying this before SS Phone I must admit that I never
used Ctrl-W. Since I had all the fields set up for Overstrike I'd either
just
Alt-W to get rid of everything or retype.

I'll add two more items to the WL Wish List (the WL WL?). These are
both features of TR that I really miss when using WL. Maybe these
already exist in WL but I just haven't found them yet.

Possible Calls: After a callsign has been completely entered and the
cursor has moved to the next field, then it would be useful to see a
list of similar calls that differ only in one character. My preference
would
be to overload the SCP window with this functionality, causing it to
switch to this behavior when the cursor has moved out of the callsign
field. For instance, if someone entered N7MH then they might see a
list showing K7MH, N2MH, N7IH, N7MH, N7MI, N7ML, W7MH. A Boolean
config parameter could control whether this is a separate window
or overloads SCP as I suggest.

Refill prefill shortcut: This is implemented by Alt-Z in TR. If you're
prefilling exchange fields from an ADI file then you will occasionally
(or frequently) get the callsign wrong and make a correction when
the station comes back with the exchange. After making the
correction I'd like to have the prefilled exchange replaced by
that of the corrected callsign. In SS you will have generally entered
the number and precedence by the time the callsign correction
happens, so you wouldn't want the precedence replaced. Rather
than an explicit shortcut key I'd prefer that selected exchange
components (check and section in SS) get replaced automatically,
if they hadn't been manually typed, after the cursor moves from
the callsign field and a callsign change has occurred.

I said 2 items, but here are some more that came to mind while
writing these up. When using ADI prefills it would be nice if the
prefill changed after the station is worked if one or more of
the exchange components is copied differently. This is
especially helpful in contests where stations can be worked on
multiple bands or modes. In SS I tried to include sections when
I spotted stations to packet and was using the prefills to do this.
I began to realize I'd spotted several stations in the wrong
section because I was relying on the prefills.

Instead of prefills it would be useful to have prior exchange
information show up in a separate area for information purposes.
I've done kludges for this by adding entries to the MASTER.DTA
file used by SCP, for example N7MH_U69SCV, but this clutters
up SCP with extra stuff and makes it hard to see the callsigns.
This is also a TR feature (USER INFO).

Since I'm on a bandwagon, I'll repeat my earlier Wish List
request that spots generated by networked computers
should appear in the Packet Spots window as well as in the
Bandmap when WL is used in a multi-op configuration. As it
works currently I either have to shout across the room or
walk over with a handwritten note to get these spots to
appropriate operators if they're spotted outside the Bandmap
limits.
