[WriteLog] Recording a new message on-the-fly

Steve, it is not always as bad as this. I reckon WL is the best contest
logging program currently available, but there are some frustrating
side-effects. Historically WL appears to have been created for data-mode
users, with the majority being in USA.
CT, TR and NA (which I used for 10 years) are really past history now and
many of those users have migrated to WL.
As a mere Brit with CW being my first love being CW, followed by SSB, and
absolutely no interest in transmission modes which do not involve some form
of decoding by my brain, I have to accept I am in the minority. My anger,
however, does blow at times when I cannot get a clear answer to a perfectly
reasonable question.
Normally upgrades and downloads work well, but in this case something odd
appears to have happened. I am not willing to flame the author or marketing
guys, but I note that two announcements have been made regarding upgrades to
v10.49D, yet 10.48 still appears on the web site and the Help file has not
been updated. Clearly there has been a communication breakdown so it would
be helpful if some kind of official announcement was made as to what is the
current version.
On this particular topic, all I need to know is how to record audio messages
within Writelog now that Shift-F# is no longer the way to do it. Simple? I
hope so.
Stick with it Steve. WL beats the rest. Chris G3SJJ

This has been interesting to me as an outsider. I have been thinking
about writing a check and buying Writelog. I got on the reflector to get
a feel for some of the issues. I want to use it, not spend this much
time trying to trouble shoot a new release for the developer. That is
what beta releases are for and are usually directed to those who want to
play and explore problems before it is released or commercially
available as that can be fun too when your not under pressure to get it
working right before a contest HI. Have been following this topic for
about a week or so and was wondering when someone would finally say the
magic words. Why you all would not be sending these emails to the
developer of the software to get a stake in the ground regarding whether
it is really broken or incompatability with certain machines and
interfaces. Good luck. I havn't explored TR or CT in this depth yet
but I suppose they all have some stories like this too, to be fair to
all. In doing a high level take of all three, this program appeared
from the reading material to be a little more robust. I think I will
continue to follow this saga and wait and see what kind of customer
service support you get from the developer on this specific problem and
use as my final decision criteria (whether to buy or not to buy).
Cheers Steve - W5JK

It's disappointing that with the 20+ messages about this in the last
week, neither Wayne nor Ron have taken the 60 seconds needed to
address the problem, or at least say it's being fixed in the next
version.
