What you have is not a Writelog problem. If you didn't have a computer, you'd still have the same problem.

You have no way to do PTT with your radio.

Many contesters use a foot switch. There is a convenient jack on the back of your 847 for plugging one in.

There are reviews of some footswitches on eham.net in contesting hardware: http://www.eham.net/reviews/products/57

Subject: [WriteLog] Problem with PTT from Keyboard in SSB-mode

Hi!

Writelog is just the greatest logginprogram and I installed it on my laptop
to bring to our ZK1 expedition now in February.

I do however have a problem.

I use Writelog together with the Microham USB adapter which allows me rig
controll, CW keying and FSK.
I also have a Exoding filter between radio and soundboard and my Heil
headset inserted in the Mic port of the computer.
The radio is a Yaesu Ft-847 so it does not have Vox but is keyed thru the
PTT port on the backside with my Microham USB thingy.

Now, recording "on-the-fly" messages works great and transmitting them too.
But what if I want to transmit something that is not a pre-recorded
message????
I looked thrue the helpfile and manuals but maybee I am stupid because I can
not find anything about it.
The only way I can transmit something not being a pre-recorded message is to
record a new message and the Rig will key and transmit what I say but I
think it is quite awqward if I need to press shift-F11 everytime I will need
to say something not allready recorded.
Is there a PTT button in Writelog or do I need to get a extra footpedal or
something?
