Correct - Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP require a third
party LPT driver. Here is the information from the writelog web
page: www.writelog.com/support.html

LPT ports with Windows 2000/XP

WriteLog does not support use of the LPT port on Windows NT,
Windows 2000 or Windows XP. However, third party solutions
are available.

http://www.direct-io.com. This product is shareware and
currently priced at $29.00. Setup instructions for direct-io
with WriteLog can be found at: www.direct-io.com/kb/q600003.htm.

Alternatively, a freeware product is available:
UserPort.zip is freeware. Instructions on how to use it are here:
     www.writelog.com/support/lpt_port_support_on_windows_nt.htm
But UserPort does not always work on all XP systems, and for
those where it doesn't work, the usual symptom is a Windows
  system crash.
