This is a problem with Vista's "User Account Control" and WriteLog's
apparent inability to cope with Vista's virtualization. There
are two things you can do that will make Vista "livable."

1) use the system administrator account - see this information from
   DXLab Suite: http://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/InstallVista

2) Disable User Account Control
   A) right click on "Computer"
   B) select "Security Center"
   C) select "Other security settings"
   D) turn off "User Account Control"

After disabling User Account control you may be able to log in
as a normal user and start WriteLog with "run as administrator"
(right click on WriteLog, select Properties, select the Shortcut
tab click the "Advanced" button, check "run as administrator",
click OK). I use the Administrator account and can't check the
"run as administrator" setting directly.

Another way to limit the "reach" of UAC and Vista virtualization
is to install WriteLog outside the Program Files directory ...
I install all my amateur software on a separate partition (disk)
to keep Vista from limiting where their data files can be
stored.
