Grant,
You didn't say what Yaesu rig you are using but I had the same problem after
my FTDX9000 went through the PEP program. I don't know what changes Yaesu
made to the keying circuit. I discussed the situation with Steve, K1EL and
the fix is very simple.
I am guessing that you have a keyer with optocouplers controlling the output
ports. These optocouplers are identified as U1 and U3. You can remove the
optocouplers from their sockets and replace them with solid state relays.
No other changes are required. The solid state relays are part number
AQW210EH. Steve was going to send me the relays but it didn't happen and I
didn't want to bother him because he was recently in a serious automobile
accident. I purchased the parts from Newark, www.newark.com. They cost
$5.73 each plus shipping. K1EL sells the WKUSB with these parts if you
order the "HV option".
