Clay, I use a 746PRO for 2M, mainly contesting. I don't use a
CT-17, so don't know what may be different. I am using a native
serial port. I found that settings need to be 9600 baud, 8 N 1,
in both radio and software.The CIV Address (hex) needs to be the
same in both radio and software. As Gary suggested, you could be
getting data collisions on the bus. You can disable CIV
Transceive in the radio and enable polling in the software. You
can also enable CIV Transceive and disable polling in the
software. Which one works depends on what else you have on the
CIV bus. You should make sure the radio is set to CIV 731 Mode
OFF. That one changes the data format and can really mess things
up. Keep trying stuff and you will get it working.
