[WriteLog] No spots in View Packet Spots window

I am connected to a cluster (actually, the RBN) and receiving spots 
fine.  According to the manual, the spots should be appearing in the 
View Packet Spots window, but none are.  I do not have the program 
connected to a radio - might that explain it?  Anything else I should be 
checking?

I'm almost brand new to Writelog, and preparing a comparative review for 
the Dayton Contest University, so anything you can do to help me get up 
to speed will be much appreciated.
