[WriteLog] CAT control on a Kenwood TS-870

I had the same problem with my Kenwood (TS-2000) when I first ran WriteLog. The USB/Serial adapter I was using worked well with most other programs, including HRD.

Yet, it was that adapter that was the problem. If you get one with the FTDI chip set, you won't have any problems.

Go onto Amazon.com and do a search for FTDI usb serial, and a bunch will pop up. Make sure you look at the product description and that it specifically says FTDI. Then you can buy from amazon or look around on-line for a better price.

After I put the new adapter in, some of the other programs (like DX Lab Suite) have started to work better than before.

Subject: [WriteLog] CAT control on a Kenwood TS-870

I sent this out yesterday with no text, and had several interesting
reply's, but not the one I was looking for, so I will try again, maybe I
will get it right this time.

What is the proper cable to use with CAT control on a Kenwood TS-870 ? I
tried a serial cable and it is not working, using Writelog, I have the
port and baud rate set OK. I am using a USB to Serial converter, could
this be part of the problem? this setup worked before with a Kenwood
TS-450.

I have used CAT control with my Icom radios with no problems, I am
trying to help a friend with his Kenwood.

TIA
Vince, K6BIR
