Clarification. I use the printed transmitted characters to know when to
truncate an ongoing message or to gauge when a message is about complete so
I can prepare to start a message on another radio. Of course I use my
headphone monitor signal to precisely time my transmissions in the second
case so that I neither have dead time nor cut off the first transmission
prematurely.
One should always use a hardware interlock in SO2R to guarantee only one
signal is on the air at a time. The WriteLog software interlock is not
sufficient as there is often an overlap of the two transmitted signals if
you rely on it to stop the first transmission. This isn't a bug but rather
an inevitable limitation of using software for this function.
