Yet another way to do it is look to the upper left of the letters.  For example: QWE would be the number 123.

I had to do this several times during the contest.  So a report of:  TOO QWE QWE would be 599 123 123.

Whatever works.

Rich is correct, you can hold the Shift key down and then click on the first character of the letters that printed instead of numbers.  I did this several times in the WPX RTTY - very handy and much quicker than sending NR NR in hopes of getting a repeat that prints correctly.  The only problem is if the string of letters you want to convert to numbers has extras garbage characters that printed at the end.  Without a space at the end of what you do want you are likely to get an unrealistic entry into the NR field.

I believe that your can hold the SHIFT key then click on the serial number (letters in this case) and they are converted to the correct numbers.  Unless I misunderstood your question in the first place.
