[WriteLog] Red box in Call entry field

That was exactly the answer.  I greatly appreciate your help.
Just so everyone knows, even though this is a "Live CW delay" field, it works for both SSB and CW, allowing you more time to quickly edit the call sign in the entry window, after you hit the %C command.
