Rules for this contest can be found in SM3CER Contest Service http://www.sk3bg.se/contest/sacnsc.htm Toni OH2JTE, Juho OH5JOC and Markus OH3RM (average age is 19,6 years) are active as OH1X in both parts. Message-ID: <39C0F813.6E0D0ADB@mindspring.com> Hi gang. If you're working on WAS and need Tennessee on one or more bands/modes, this Sunday will be a golden opportunity for you. The Tennessee QSO Party will be happening from 1800z Sunday, September 17 until 0100z Monday, September 18. If you are a county hunter or know someone who is, we'll have several mobile staions running through several of our counties, including some of the rare ones where few or no hams live. I plan to be on using my call from home in the very un-rare Davidson County with my old Kenwood TS-440 and 100 watts into a dipole 50-60 feet (15-20m) up in the trees. All the rules for our fine mini-contest (with suggested frequencies) are here: http://www.k4ro.net/tcg/tqp/tqp99fin.html#rules Also on that page are last year's results. I think that the top scorer from each DXCC country gets a certificate. YT7TY got one last year for making 3 contacts, 3 mults for 9 (yes NINE!) points. If you want some wallpaper and you are having a hard time in making the Top Ten in CQ WW or ARRL DX, here may be your chance! Also, there is a Non-Tennessee team competition - if several WWYCers contribute scores, that could mean a certificate as well (and some good publicity with my home team, the Tennessee Contest Group, http://www.k4ro.net/tcg.html ). I hope to work some of you on Sunday. If you can't hear me, listen for W4CAT (where I play in the Big Ones). They should have big signals on all bands/modes from the multi-multi shack on Music Mountain in Sumner County. Play if you can! 73 all! Please make an effort to work in the contest! I hope to work you in the contest. Unfortunately 3,5 and 7 MHz are still extremely noisy here in the tropics. THE TEXAS QSO PARTY - 2000 Sponsored by the Northwest Amateur Radio Society (NARS) in Houston, Texas To provide competition for Amateur Radio Operators to contact as many Texas stations in as many different Texas counties as possible. To provide county hunters the opportunity to contact rare Texas counties during the published contest time and in accordance with the rules of operation. RULES OF OPERATION: 1. Operation will be permissible only in accordance with current FCC rules or your country’s rules. 2. The use of spotting nets, by way of repeaters, packet nodes, simplex operation; telephone or any other means is permissible in multi-op and assisted. 3. Operation on all bands and modes is permitted, except on 30 meters, 17 meters and 12 meters. 4. Stations may be worked once per band per mode. 4a. Texas mobiles may be worked once per band/mode from each county. 4b. Texas mobiles may work stations once per band/mode from each county covered. 5. The Texas QSO Party operating times will be from 1400Z on the 30th of September to 0500Z on the 1st of October and from 1400Z to 2000Z on the 1st of October. Stations may work the entire contest period. All logs must be submitted no later than October 31, 2000. 6. For purposes of clarification, separate logs may be submitted for each mode. Dupe sheets are required for all stations submitting more than 200 contacts. Texas mobiles can use separate logs per county. EXCHANGES: Non Texas stations use RS/T, State, Country, Canadian Province, or maritime region.Texas stations use RS/T and County. CATEGORIES: Single transmitter QRP (less than 10 watts phone and less than 5 watts CW and other modes) Multi transmitter QRP (less than 10 watts phone and less than 5 watts CW and any other mode) Single operator Single operator assisted Multi Multi Multi Single Texas Mobile Single Op (includes assisted) Texas Mobile Multi Op Novice/Tech CW Only – NEW THIS YEAR* Club Aggregate SCORING: Texas Stations Count two (2) points per phone QSO with any station. Count three (3) points per CW and other digital mode QSOs with any station. Non - Texas Stations Count two (2) points per phone QSO with any Texas station Count three (3) points per CW and other digital mode QSOs with any Texas Station. MULTIPLIERS: Non - Texas stations Your multiplier is the number of Texas counties worked. A maximum of two hundred fifty four (254) multipliers is allowed. Texas Stations Your multipliers are the number of states worked plus the number of Texas counties worked plus each Canadian province worked (13 total) plus each DXCC country worked excluding USA, Canada, Alaska and Hawaii. All additional DXCC contacts worked count for points. Washington DC QSOs count as Maryland contacts. FINAL SCORE: Multiply the total QSO points times your multiplier to arrive at your final score. BONUS POINTS: Non - Texas Stations Add one hundred (100) bonus points to your FINAL SCORE for every ten (10) Texas mobiles worked per band per mode. Texas Stations Add one hundred (100) points to your FINAL SCORE for every ten (10) Texas mobiles worked per band per mode. Texas Mobiles Add five thousand (5000) points to your FINAL SCORE per every five counties covered with at least five contacts in each county. Add one hundred (100) points to your FINAL SCORE for every ten (10) Texas mobiles worked per band per mode. FINAL FINAL SCORE: Add bonus points to your Final score. Texas Mobiles Scoring Example: Worked 284 phone QSO’s and 50 CW QSO’s. Texas mobiles may work stations once per band/mode from each county covered and all count as contacts for total QSO’s…. but each state, Canadian province and DXCC contact only counts once each for multipliers even if they were worked several times from different counties covered. 284 phone QSO’s X 2 pts each = 568 pts…50 CW QSO’s X 3 pts each = 150 pts...568 + 150 = 718 pts Worked 24 Texas counties….. 30 States….. and 1 Canadian Province….. for 55 multipliers. 718 pts X 55 multipliers = 39,490 pts Operated from 31 counties in Texas with 5 or more contacts in 29 counties = 25,000 bonus pts. (since you must have groups of 5 counties with 5 or more contacts each only 25 counties with 5 or more count towards the bonus in this case) Worked 10 Texas Mobile stations…for 100 bonus points. (Each Texas Mobile worked only counts once for bonus pts…but counts as additional contacts in different counties and bands or modes.) 39,490 pts + 25,000 bonus pts for working 5 contacts in each of 25 counties + 100 bonus pts for 10 Texas Mobiles = a Final Final Score of 64,590 pts SUGGESTED FREQUENCIES: CW – 40 to 60 kHz up from the bottom of the band; Novice/Tech 30 kHz up PHONE - 25 kHz up in General segments and 28.300 - 28.500 VHF - 50.200…..144.200…..46.55 ADMINISTRATION: The Northwest Amateur Radio Society shall appoint a QSO Party Committee whose responsibilities shall include the publication of the Texas QSO Party announcement in amateur radio magazines, journals, newsletters published by NARS and other publications deemed appropriate. Incredible turnovers. Start of the contest was awful! 2 first hours hardly 40 qsos. Our modulation was bad and that's the reason why we lost really many qsos. Finaly at around 1400Z first day my contest buddy 9A5AEI managed to fix the problem and then the real contesting started. We easly reached 450 qsos and that was the end for 1st day. 2nd day brought us a lot of fun (especialy when I had to do all the oping 2nd day as 9A5AEI went to Bled (S5) with his YL). At around 1900Z I was over with the contest as I couldnt concentrate any longer and also I was introduced with complete rules where it says I cant make skeds via packet radio (I was on famous #cqdx via packet radio) but since non-radio amateur meanings are not allowed (so I finaly concluded that packet has nothing to do with hamradio). Are there any skeds at all alowed? And if other station I worked is breaking the rules does that means I must loose the points also? After all said and done we didnt reached 1000 qsos but had a great time with all the friends helping out (9A6NCM for makin' me sorry I didnt go to disco, W3UR for learning new lesson in my life, mum who brought me some food + my teacher who didnt gave me bad mark) Special thanks to KB9UWU for prayers and DJ1YFK for incredible support and all those for great skeds .. 73 de 9A7P Team 9A6XX ex.9A6NHH+9A5AEI ex.9A6TCA+co ryryryryryryryry sk sk sk comments: hrle@rkp.ice.hr 9A7P site: http://rkp.ice.hr 9A6XX site: http://rkp.ice.hr/hrle. -- FAQ on WWW: http://lists.contesting.com/wwyc-faq.htm Submissions: wwyc@contesting.com Administrative requests: wwyc-REQUEST@contesting.com Problems: owner-wwyc@contesting.com From patrick@rkp.ice.hr Mon Sep 25 20:33:03 2000 From: patrick@rkp.ice.hr (Patrik) Date: Mon, 25 Sep 2000 21:33:03 +0200 Subject: [WWYC] CQWW RTTY hardware & software UPDATE Message-ID: <000901c02727$70db4540$1e34aa2c@ampr.org> CQ WW RTTY Contest Call used: 9A7P Location: Istra, Croatia Entry Class: Multi Op, Single Xmit, Low Power Hrle put here - Check Log * Check Log * Check Log - I don't know why?? There is always nearly everywhere a possiblity to access a station with at least a 3el Beam and a Windom or dipol. I also don't want to hear the excuse that he is not interessted in a contest ! Hey ! Each member of this club is a contest-loving amateur ! Maybe we can collect all anouncements of the WWYCs and put them on the homepage. ---snip--- I gonna start now with the first announcement: Because that I don't get any vacation this year I can't go with the Bavarian Contest Club to Morocco, CN8WW BUT: We, 4 WWYCs (DH1NHI, DH1NFL, DH1TW, DL5RMH) and DK1NO & DL3SBI will take part as Multi/Single in the CQWW SSB from DK1NO's station.
