Subject: [WWYC] update: BCC-PED-CW Offline Contest !
Message-ID: <3AF1EEEE.31496D50@gmx.net>
Hi Contester !
WPX-CW 2001 is already in some few weeks !
Time to refresh your cw-skill ! :-)
Since the start of the BCC-PED-CW-Offline contest
4 weeks ago, the daily updated highscore list
signs now about 40 callsigns from contester all
over the world like the LU, UA2, DL, N6, KL7,
XE1, S5, LY, OZ...
A lot of people told me, that they are already
training successfully with BCC-PED but don't have
enough courage to send in their logs.
Nobody has to be ashamed, that he doesn't has
such a huge score like N6MJ or DJ1YFK who are
running 110 (!) QSOs in 10 minuits !
Even if you can get 40 QSOs / 10 minuits in your
log, you are running a 240 QSOs / hour rate !
Send me your scores guys ! This little competition
is living of your will to send in the score !
At the moment, Dan, N6MJ is leading the Multi
Caller Category, where several stations are calling
at the same time, like in a real pileup.
Dan is followed with his 80 QSOs by Martin, LW9EUJ
and Tom 9A5TO.
In the Single Caller category Fab, DJ1YFK (17 years
young!!) is leading the top of the list with 108 QSOs
and 6787 Points, closely followed by Dan, N6MJ and Hein, DL2OBF.
In this category nearly 30 stations did send in their log
already.
How can I take part in the BCC-PED-CW-Offline contest ?
http://www.bavarian-contest-club.de/contest/ped/ped_eng.html
Can I have a look on the highscore list ?
sure ! have a look at:
http://www.bavarian-contest-club.de/contest/ped/highscore.html
I would be very happy to recieve some more logs of you
guys !
73 & happy contesting

Message-ID: <000901c0d971$b606ba80$1e34aa2c@ampr.org>
Hey guys, this weekend Patrick and I decided to go for portable.
It's been a while since our last 6m contest so we decided this
will be a nice chance for it plus a chance for barbecue.
Total qsos worked: 35+21+12 = 68 (woooooow)
We spent most of the time on 6m (I really felt like a beacon :)).
First day we had total of 15 q's with ODX qso and few more DXs.
We had opening on indian ocean and south africa but that was
quite poor as we expected lot more ZSs in our log. On the
end of the number 1 day even WX showed us it's back and stopped us
working - short strong strom passed trough our QTH.
Next day we had plan to be active from early morning. I was already
at 9A7P club at 7:50am (loc) where i've made few ARI q's.
At 8 am instead of going to our portable location we went for a coffee as
both of us have had eyes hardly open so we came on air quite late.
WX was more like sunny and that was good for our barbecue plan and
Q's went on very well (compared to 1st day:)) and we've made about
20 q's in next 2-3 hours.. hehe. We hoped for more OZ/SMs to come
but better few then nothing. Last 2:30h 0 qsos. Luckly at that time
few more members came in for barbecue and we had nice fun till the
late afternoon (and then again rain :()
On 2m we just gave points in wish to get few DXs but we were too weak
for DXs. We heard few OK/OM/HA/OEs but nobody could hear us. My biggest
sorrow was caused by not working HA7P :-)
After all it was still very interesting weekend, and we do hope for
repeating that one again very soon (when 6m gets in real mood) but
also we're on for real 2m fun. This time we had no time for installing
2m setup but Amp and ants are ready for action.

Soon is WPX CW so I expect to see plans, hints and tricks for that contest
on this list.
Anyone wants to share their tactics? off-times? band switching?
My plan for WPX CW is to get myself real tribander (so far AS33 is the one)
as 2el. quad we have here is not a real tribander (it has 3 feed lines)
and I'm now quite sure about being in SOAB/TS/LP category with 9A6XX
callsign (quite rare 9A6 mult - at least it was in SSB part).
This weekend there's also CQ-Mir contest. Activity in this contest
is really good (I believe something between ARI and RDXC).

Pozdrav,

Hello YC'ers,
I was also QRV in Baltic contest as M/S together with DL4MM and DL2OBF
as DJ1YFK/p from the CW-meeting on the fuchskaute where I slightly
_missed_ the first place in the german cw championship (unfortunately i
didn't have a laptop to write down letter groups, so i had to do it by
hand ... QRS!) ... anyway 2nd is still nice :)
The Log of BC is still on DL2OBF's computer, but i think it were about
215 QSO's, CW only... only WWYC'er worked was LY7Z (LY2TA) who did a
great job!! I didn't hear a station with more QSO's than LY7Z all the
contest!
The first two hours were something like 60 QSO's each, but then rates
went down to 30 Q/h ... not enough stations were QRV... RIG was a TS50
(BAD RX!!!) on a 2*40m Doublet @ 30m inv-vee on top of the "fuchskaute"
hill which is cca. 650 m ASL...

Hi WWYC
After a long break from writing here I thought I would just give you my
plans for CQ WPX CW next weekend: I will be OZ1AA @ OZ7YY SOAB HP.
At first my plan was to use OZ0X but then I learned that OZ0XX will be
active as M/M so 1AA is probably better.
Equipment will be.
Rig: Icom IC-781
Amp: Collins 30S-1
Antennas:
160: Ground plane + dipole
80: Ground plane + dipole
40: 2 elm @ 32 meter
20: 4 elm @ 30 meter
15/10: 3 elm duobander @ 15 meter
+ different RX ants...
I'm looking very much forward for this one since it is quite long time since
I have been ON AIR. Would love to see other plans here too - maybe we can
even create a list like the good old days :)
Anyway, gl es cu in test.

I'll be SOABHP at the K4XS superstation, using WK4R. I'm planning on a
serious SO2R effort.....
Station 1: IC-775 + Kick Butt Alpha power
Station 2: IC-765 + Respectible SB220 power
Antennas:
160m: 1/4 wave elevated full size vertical, base at 50ft, 12 elevated
radials
80m: 4EL full sized quad @190ft NE
2EL full sized quad @190ft SW

40m: 4/4 monos at 100 and 200ft
20m: 5/5/5/5 monos at 50, 100, 15, and 200ft
15m: 6/6/6/6 monos at 30, 60, 90, and 120ft
10m: 6/6/6/6/6/6 monos on a 200ft tower
+ various tribanders
Basically, if I do poorly, it will be the operator's fault.....

Hi,
Last few weeks I was looking for a serious location here in T9 for SOABLP
but
the only problem was I couldn't find any. I found some locations for SOSB,
but SOAB
couldn't. So I decided to work it from my own location on SOSBLP on 80M and
to enter
like rookie, 'cause I still can do it. Transciever is Kenwood TS450S and
IC740 with
one FRG7700 receiver, and antenna will be vertikal deltaloop or only
inverted vee.
Last weekend I didn't work Baltic contest, and I am teribly sorry. The only
problem is
that I went out to my radio club at 2030UTC, met one old (girl)friend, told
to myself
that I will spend with her just a few minutes, and come home another day.
Sorry. Or I'm not :))

I´ve been reading about your WPX plans so I decided to put some info
about my plans to reflector also.

Hi again
Below is my score for the WPX contest. I had a very good weekend at OZ7YY's
place. I worked quite a big number of WWYC'ers:
NW7DX, OH4JFN, DL1IAO, OH0B (OH2JTE), 4N7M (4N7RGH), KU6W (N6MJ), AA3E
(LU9AY), DJ1YFK, S51TA, 9A6XX, KD4RWN, WK4R (N2NL), S55OO, LY7Z (LY2TA),
WE9V (KB3AFT), LW9EOC, S57IIO.
Certainly not bad! Very cool to see WWYC alive. Guess I would qualify for
the WAW (Worked All WWYC'ers) award :-)
Also don't forget to write WWYC as your club when you send in the log as we
have got an OK from N8BJQ that WWYC can qualify as a club.

As always thanks to Finn for the use of the station for the weekend. Don't
know
if I am really satisfied with the result (the goal was set a bit higher) but
I
certainly had a good time.
Had planned to use my second call OZ0X but when I learned that OZ0XX would
be
active as M/M I decided to avoid any misunderstandings by using OZ1AA.
Thanks for all for the QSO's and CU in the next one which will probably be
IARU
in July.

I also worked many WWYC members (which were active on that band) like my

Hope to c u all in IARU contest in july, I'll be QRV on 80m CW like T90HQ
from Mt. Klek, from my

It will only be interesting to see some LP stations from my country which
runned over 2kw in final results :))

Hi Guys,
I operated on Saturday morning till sunrise, then
I had to spend the whole saturday on a special
firefighter skill training. After returning home in the
evening, I slept an hour, finished some homework and
operated again mostly till sunrise of Sunday. In the afternoon
I operated some more hours, till I had to catch my
train to go back to my student appartment :-)
operated 13 hours, mostly S&P.
Condx seemed to be quite good on 15m, but bad on
10m, and in general bad to JA.
Anyway, nice weekend :-)

Hej
