Greetings Hrle! 48 hour contesting by yourself can take some discipline, but
it is quite fun. I've been doing it for a long time now, but I've never
lasted more than 40 hours and I'm usually good for about 36. This season I
hope to operate more than 40 hours. I just missed certificates by a few
qsos in the cqww phone and cw.

It's difficult to stay awake early in the morning, but the best thing to do
is either stand up or start eating some simple food such as chips. Last year
in cqww ssb I hit the beer pretty hard over the last few hours. That helped
get rid of the boredom because everything seemed to be funny once I had a
few in me. The funniest part was knocking a beer over and having it spill
all over my desk.

When things are slow I take out a magazine and start browsing through it to
pass the time. Another good motivator is to have a copy of last year's
scores. That always makes me more competitive.

Hope to see you on the air soon....

73,

Nate/N4YDU
