[WWYC] WWYC future

Hey WWYC
Good to see some discussion about the life of WWYC! YL1ZF asks a very
important questoin: What is the club about and what can one gain from being
a member? For me the club is certainly more than a member list on the
website. As it has been said, the #wwyc chat room is always open and many
interesting talks are going on there. Also this reflector is kept running to
keep the group together with contest reports and so on. But what I like most
is when I am operating the contests and all the familiar calls show up on
the frequency (or I call you, now where I am getting better at SO2R) and I
can key "HI HRLE" or "HI LEE" or whatever. Also there is all the small
battles with members in the same category (unfortunately I always loose to
OH2JTE)... Yes, it is often very quite here between the big contests, but
with school and jobs I understand this fact very well, and I am not so sure
if it can be changed.
I think Dimitar and Mike have done a great job on the new website
(www.qsl.net/wwyc). However, WE need to provide them with some content that
describes the life of the club. I will try to put something together
myself...
There is one thing I would like to change in the club though: The question
about how we welcome new members. On the website the member list keep
growing, but in #wwyc and here on the reflector it seems like it is primary
"the old boys" who are hanging out. Unfortunately we can't expect each new
member to make a "I am a new member" post on the reflector like N1SNB did
some time ago (welcome again Jeff!). How is this done in other clubs?
CU all in WPX CW. Unfortunately I will not be operating from OZ7YY this time
around. I am quite crashed after this weeks exams so 36 hours in front of
the radio would be too much I think. However, I am looking much forward to
give out some points and say hello to some friends with my wire antennas.
Thanks to Hrle for helping to keep up the spirit of the club! - and Hrle, as
we are all young ham radio operators I think we ARE the wheel in the future
of contesting. We just need to get the wheel to move even faster!

Hello!
On the old page there was some information about activities. There were like
2 people mailing me about the activities (including you Hrle) so there was
not much to put on the page.
Now Im studying and have absolutely no time over the handle homepage so I
asked Dimitar to take it over but he wanted me to handle it with him so I
said ok. I have not ever recived anything about a request of having the
activities on the homepage, not ever! Maybee you think that me and Dimitar
are mindreaders so let me tell you a little secret, we arent! Maybee we
should have some kind of evaluation about the club and the activities each
half year or something?
Im a big enthusiast of amateur radio but the time is just not enough to get
involved in the club, sorry but thats just a fact.
