Most of us are still sobering after wild nights of New Year's mania. Now I
calmed down a bit to say something more or less useful and wish all the best
to all WWYC members!!
Today I made my first QSOs in 2004 and all the QSOs were made with
WWYCers... there were even 6 WWYCers on HF sked which we have on Fridays
1700z around 14.250MHz!!!
I hope this means 2004 will be year of WWYC and even more successful then
2003 and I can say 2003 was really great year for this Club - we made some
great movements which guarantee us light and happy future!
73 to all,

this winter we are attempt to do the same, this time on both modes.
We're going to be making two teams and will be going head to head.
There will be heated battles such as KE9R vs AF4QZ, and of course
Fred K9YO vs everyone as WE4YL.
Email me to join up. Current teams are:
CW: WE4YL (K9YO), KU5B, DJ1YFK, KE9R, AF4QZ, K3ASK
SSB: WE4YL (AF4QZ), KB1IPK, K3ASK, KU5B, LU1FAM
( Teams will be split 2 for each mode, 'equally' to )
( faciliate ass-wh00ping competition. )
This is a WWYC & SCDC (WE4YL) venture. Who knows how it will turn out.

40 was really strange for me. I made a few qsos on 40 before I took a 40
minute
break for dinner and it sounded like it was going to be typical 40...a lot
of
fun. I came back and it sucked for close stuff. The west coast was pounding
in
on 40 and 80. 160M was good from here also. Maybe I just goofed up on 40
this
time. 10M was great.
This is always a very fun contest.
This is my last year of WWYC. That really stinks. I'll turn 30 in December.

Hi Lids,
NAQP was a bit frustrating: I went to the club-station at 21 UTC (20m was
already closed of course) and tuned over 40m... no US-Sigs, except K2NG
calling CQ asia.. so went to 80m to relax do some QRQ ragchewing until 40m
would open and checked back one hour later .. nil from US (but worked JA,
9M2 .. there).. another hour later.. you guess it: nil. On 80m I worked 2
US stations at the lower band edge at about 02 UTC, but both were not in
NAQP and very weak...
Can I send a log with 0 QSOs? ;)

Seems like there is always more to do with the family when I come
home from W8 then just radio.
For some reason I cannot export this from WriteLog to Cabrillo
format. When I go to File: Export the Cabrillo is greyed out, or
inactive. Under Contest: I cannot 'Save as Cabrillo'. Maybe it's
because I'm running 10.28C, not sure.
Here is my .wl file:

Could someone try to open it with their writelog and see if they
can get a cabrillo out of it? I sent KE9R Greg IN for every QSO.
I would -really- appreciate this, otherwise I won't be able to
submit a log.

All the scores for the WWYC NAQP Jan CW team are in, glad to see
everyone got on (or tried to get on in Fab's case) and made some
sort of effort. We certainly were not trying to win, only be a
group and have some fun with it. I know I certainly did.
Scores ended up like this:
Score Reductions Greater Than 10% - WWYC
K3ASK 154 14 x 11
DJ1YFK 0 0 x 0
KE9R 5,768 103 x 56
AF4QZ 9,512 164 x 58
N4YDU 155.584 748 x 208

Nice job all. We appreciate Nate being our power house and getting
our score into the 100k range!
If you're on the team -- a reminder, send your cabrillo logs to
cwnaqp@ncjweb.com.
If you want to join the SSB team let me know, so far I have AF4QZ,
KB1IPK, K3ASK, KU5B, and possibly K3OOO. If you're DX but think you
might make a Q or two, let me know, I'll add you to a second team,

you have any remote chance of getting on. It's good to see WWYC on

Hi all,
New Year is reality, maybe it is good time to think about placing in
contest calendar OUR contest? Something as "WWYC Contest" or "WWYC QSO
Party"? And form rules to give big score for QSO with us? ;)
The nice idea would be to conctruct rules to give contestants
possibility to use logging software with a preset for existing contest.
For example we could use CQWW. All not WWYC members give number
corresponding to some exotic CQ zone, all members give their zone. So,
multiplier is for each zone with WWYC member worked. Of course date and
period of contest is open thing to discuss.
What do you think?

Defintely think a contest inside a contest is the best idea. From
trying to plan a WWYC only contest a while ago, I realize all the
issues with log checking, scheduling, and motivation. To lay it
inside a already established contest is certainly the way to go.
Sort of like the HF Collegiate Championships in the ARRL SS.
It's hard, however to figure out a way to make us stick out. In
the NA QSO Parties you can do this by using a common name, but
it's hard to do in a CQ WW type event.
I'm up for brainstorming ideas and certainly would participate.

hehe, same here. And Fab is not allwed to comment my signal .)
It's 99% sure I will be in a DX pedition later this year too, but we'll
save that one for later since it's not 100% yet (or is it?)...

Great Richard,
It's really nice to see that WWYC members are getting very involved in DXpeditioning. It is also great to show that all radio amateur old and young are capable and prepared to mount such things.
Keep up the good work, see you on the bands.

Danny. M0GMT.

Hello lids!
We have been using Skype for a while but now I have found a
better software. I have started a server on my linux machine which
makes it possible for us to take part in multi chats.
Go to http://www.ventrilo.com and download the client software.
After that you create an own user and try to connect to:
sm3wmv.shacknet.nu
port: the default one, think it is 3784
the password to be able to access the server is : lids
You are free to join. The server is running 24 hours per day and
such things as vox etc is supported by the software. I like it a lot
more than Skype since you can join a channel on my server and
chat with the people in it. You can also chat in the same kind of
way like in IRC...

Hello guys,
i'm looking for someone among the wwyc-crowd who has
experience with building a PA for HF. My project becomes quite
serious, but there are a lot of questions still and I would appreciate
the possibility of consulting a person with experience on that topic.
Unfortunately i don't know anyone in my club or so... .
If you feel like helping me a bit from time to time with my
questions, please send me a private email.

Alpha91B (are we OK for M/S LP? :-))
L/4 wire vertical with 3 radials, inv vee, 2x beverages
Another operation from most western croatian point - lighthouse Savudrija.
It
was typical fieldday style with getting everything up just before the
contest.
Last year it was enough to win Europe with just a vertical wire and this
year
with all the additional work in the field and in the shack we're far far
from
winning again - not fair.
Friday to Saturday night was a general suckup here with only 46 NA QSOs but
after some antenna work in between and maybe better condx on Saturday we got
back with another 140 NA QSOs. 190 NA in total, only about 50 AS and over
1150
EU QSOs.
It was pleasure having DH1TW & DL3DXX BCC lids added in the last year's team
making it another great funny weekend!
Next time we will invent something new :-)

While organizing a W7 sprint team for this weekend, I realized there is
no WWYC team.
Are there enough lidz in WWYC interested in the CW Sprint? I'm down for
coordinating the team if nobody else is. Part time ok, EU LIDZ also ok.
