Gerry G0RTN, WWYC for another 27 days before I hit the big 3-0 and
become an official old fart. Living in London as for the past 7
years, but I will be returning to my hometown of Belfast at the end
of August, permanently, and will once more become GI0RTN! Home
station is 100W and a 2x22m doublet at about 16m above ground, active
mostly on CW with some SSB. Work for the Health Ministry for another
2 months until I go back home. Unlike some others I am more active
in contests that ever. As well as playing in many contests from my
home station, I am also active with the G6PZ crew and I will be
returning for my second CQWW CW from PJ2T in November.
Next contests I'll try VHF Field Day/Region 1 (next weekend, G5LK/P
from JO02, probably mostly on 70 and 23cm), IARU (GB7HQ, 15 and 40
SSB), and IOTA (EJ0GI from EU-006, will be the main CW operator
there). Also like QRQ CW ragchewing but am not in the same speed
league as DJ1YFK or LZ4UU!
It's interesting to see the coincidences with other WWYCers' lives -
my degree was in political science (feels like a looong time ago
now), I used to work a lot with the European Commission, and one of
the biggest parts of my job now is implementing the world's biggest
programme for monitoring and slowing the progression of early stage
kidney disease...
