Low activity here so I thought I'd post my plans for CQWW CW and hope that others follow. We did a lot of work this weekend at the station to get ready for the contest. However we haven't gotten any 40m yagi up yet so we will be limited with just a 1/4 vertical on 40m. Otherwise we managed to get the lower 6el mono for 15m up so at least we have decent antennas on all bands except 40m. I also finished up so we can rotate the 60m tower so now we don't need to run outside to do that like in CQWW SSB :-) Me, SM2LIY, SM3JLA and SE2T will be operating M/S as SJ2W. We will have one radio only dedicated for 160m (since we have a monoband amp there), one mult station and one run station. WX has not been kind for unguyed telescopic towers the last 10 days and will not be either the coming days. Tower not all the way up = (no DX + no low band wires) = no fun. I'll just sweat it out this year. I feel sorry for the people who need to cope with me this weekend... But most of all, I feel sorry for myself ;o) 73 / GL de Franki ON5ZO http://www.on5zo.be/ From mike at sm3wmv.com Mon Nov 30 09:27:53 2009 From: mike at sm3wmv.com (Mikael Larsmark) Date: Mon, 30 Nov 2009 18:27:53 +0100 Subject: [WWYC] CQWW CW SJ2W Message-ID: <4B140099.5040409@sm3wmv.com> We had a blast, even though propagations were not very good. We are very happy with the 160m numbers and also 40m considering what crap antenna we were using. Maybe I have energy to do a serious effort in 9A CW but we will see...otherwise I guess the next one will be CQ 160 CW and ARRL. 160m: 37m vert 80m: 4-SQ 40m: Vert 20m: 6el @55m + 3el @19m 15m: 6el @14m 10m: 6/6el @16/11m FT2K + Granger (1kW) IC-7400 + ACOM-1000 FT1KD + 4-1000A for 160m Mike, SM2WMV (SJ2W) http://www.sj2w.se CQ Worldwide DX Contest, CW Call: SJ2W Operator(s): SE2T SM2LIY SM2WMV SM3JLA Station: SJ2W Class: M/S HP QTH: Da Traesk Operating Time (hrs): 48 Summary: Band QSOs Zones Countries ------------------------------ 160: 720 24 82 80: 899 31 111 40: 443 31 98 20: 1014 35 118 15: 170 27 79 10: 6 5 6 ------------------------------ Total: 3252 153 494 Total Score = 3,469,666 Club: Worldwide Young Contesters Comments: We were hoping for better propagation's, especially on the lowbands. Luckily the bands recovered a bit on Sunday which made us catch up a bit in mults. 20m was a big disappointment, the band closed pretty early to US. We have no real 40m antenna (just a vertical) so this band was a huge struggle but we are kind of happy with the result anyway. We had one radio dedicated for 160m since we have a "monoband" amp for that band. And we had two radios we shifted between running and mult hunting. We are very happy with the 160m result and when we get more hardware up next year we will be more flexible and the 40m result will hopefully have a huge improvement. There is a lot of work to do to make this station a competitive M/S station, but after just over one year at the new QTH we feel that we are on the way to something good.
