Yes all the same coax.  There is a tuned length of 75ohm from the feed point then the run up the tower.  I have checked from that point and also from the shack and they match.  Moving the coax around has a minimal effect on the readings, the elements moving in the wind has more effect.

There is no balun due to the matching section of coax but I have looked at adding one anyway in the future.  I even unclipped the feed from the boom so it hangs straight down and it actually made the SWR worse but this was before I discovered the bad connection at the feed point.

Are you feeding the antenna with the same transmission line used when it's
up the tower?
If so, seems like the tx line is misbehaving.
Have you tested the balun?
Is there an additional current choke balun at the feed point?
