Automatic Tuner Operation

I called Yeasu about the wierd situation I was having on 20m w/ATU.
It would do a 1-1 swr at 14.080-14.000 and a flat swr 1-1 on 14.240-14.400
BUT at 14.080-14.240 it would not tune right and take it seemed to long.
AND the SWR would only tune to 2.5-1...but Yaesu says this is with in SPECS.
I still feel something is not right as it tunes so well and so quick to 1-1
on the
above freqs but has such a hard time on the other piece of 20m.
My antenna is a TH7dx and if I take the ATU off...the SWR direct 1.5-1
Strange Huh??
