[Yaesu] FT-1000MP AF Unit option?

Hello to everyone on the list. I was putting an optional IF filter in my
FT-1000MP and noticed a space for a plug in option(?) of some kind on
the AF board. The space is silkscreened "AF Unit" on the board and
labeled U3003 on the schematic in the tech reference, but no mention in
the parts list. Any ideas as to what this option (if it is one) is?
