[Yaesu] FT-990 Noise "Blanker"?

The NB on my 990 seems to deal very well with power-line noise consisting
of 60Hz/120Hz arcs and with electric-fence arcs.  It doesn't deal with
random 'hash' or 'hiss'.  A good way to see if it's functioning would be
to tune close to a loud (>S9) CW station (about 5kHz away) and turn the
noise blanker on.  If it's working, you'll hear the receiver desense with
the CW station's sending.
