Subject: [Yaesu] FT-1000MP questions
I have been through all the FAQ page for the 1000mp, and couldn't find a
few answers about the 1000mp.
Is CW on lsb or usb, and is it adjustable? You might say why do you
care? Well I operate alot of weak signal vhf using transverters, and in
that relm you use CW and USB on the same freq. depending on how weak the
other guy is, and at times you may be on CW, and he answers you on side
band, it is very important to have cw at least on the same side band that
you are operating on.
!It toggles either way. Hit the CW button to toggle.
Is the CW carrier on the same frequency as the side band? I.E. do you
have to change freq by say +600 Hz like some radio's to match freq?
!No. You can just hit the mode button if you are on the correct sideband
and you'll be right there.
I played with a 1000mp at HRO, and noticed that when you change the display
to the 70 cm display, it would only tune 428-430Mhz. What gives? There
are alot of EME'ers in Japan who operate in the 432Mhz freq range, and all
of our weak signal stuff here in the U.S. is 432.1Mhz. Do the newer models
display 432? The 50, and 144 displays seemed to be fine.
! Sounds like you need to check the hidden menu and make sure it is set to
USA (just a guess on my ! ! part). Sorry, I dont remember the menu
number.
I have been using an IC781 for an IF running transverters with very good
results (except that the CW carrier is on LSB) does anybody else out there
use the FT1000mp with transverters?
! I use mine with a 2 meter DEM...works fine, but the stock output of the
MP is low...around -6 to -10 ! dbm normally, so you may need to either
modify the xvtr or radio to match up levels.
When you log a contact using say NA, does the freq appear on the log the
same as the display? My question is if you have 144.200 in the display,
does the computer log 144.200, or does it log 28.100?
! Neither NA or CT read radio frequencies correctly on VHF/UHF...at least
not the MP.
