Rewire the MD-1 for an FT1000MP..... I don't think so.  I haven't
rewired my MD-1 and can switch it between my FT1000MP and FT990 without
any problems.  However, the UP/DOWN buttons on the MD-1 don't work with
the FT1000MP.  Mmmmmm....
