This is a factory authorized and designed mod, so unless you screw up the
radio in the process of installing it, you are on solid ground. ;73, Tyler

Subject: [Yaesu] Mod for FT-1000MP power control with 3CX800 amps

Few days ago, I asked for modification of the Yaesu FT-1000MP
RF output control. As known, the first series don't have continous
power control output and this can be sometimes a problem when
driving modern 3CX800 amps ( like Alpha 87A, 89, Command
HF-2500, HF-1250, Ameritron AL-800H and so on ) at desired
specific output levels without overloading the small dissipation grid.

First of all, many thanks for the 40+ answers.

Second, for those who asked from me to send them too the answers:
the solution is to cut a PCB trace and add a jumper. All the details
can be found on files archive at http://www.contesting.com/_yaesu.
This mod come with a note that the change is made at tcvr owner
sole responsability. Anyway for those having rig still in warranty
period, is strongly recommended to send them to Yaesu.
