[Yaesu] FT-1000D marker level ?

On my Yaesu FT-1000D the marker does produce a 
different level on S-meter on every band, between
S-5 to S-8. I have the service manual but I wasn't
able to found any info if the marker is used only 
for frequency calibration check or has significance
on S-meter level calibration ( as in Kenwood rigs
where the marker should produce a S-9 signal on 
every band, ex. TS-940S ). What's your opinion on 
this issue ?
