[Yaesu] How do I install the 500Hz filter in my FT-990 DC?

I have an FT-990 DC with no cw filters.  I want to install the Yaesu
XF-109C filter in the rig.  The operating manual gives some brief
instructions, along with some small pictures, but is not very descriptive. 
Does anyone have any tips on how to install this filter and any advice on
pitfalls I should avoid?
