[Yaesu] FT-990 ROM version

I have an FT-990 bought from new in December 1992: it has ROM v1.2.
Apparently there are problems using Turbolog with this version of ROM, and
v1.3 or higher is required. According to Yaesu (UK) you can still obtain
v1.3 ROMs but not v1.4. Does anyone know for sure:

a) whether Turbolog works correctly in all respects with v1.3
b) what are the differences between v1.2 and 1.3 (and come to that, v1.4)

Are there any other modifications for an FT-990 of this vintage? 

BTW, I'm sorry if these are old questions which have been discussed before.
I'm new to the reflector and fairly new to the Internet as a whole, so if
there's an archive in which I could and should have looked, please accept
apologies in advance.
