[Yaesu] 1000MP CAT problem.

I've been trying to get my new 1000MP working with CT and it doesn't seem
to respond. 
I'm using a computer which has worked with an IC765 for several years and
am quite 
familiar with CT.  

This radio was used once at W1AW/7 before I purchased it.  I would like to
test the interface,
but am not sure how to do it.  Any ideas out there?
