[Yaesu] FT757 drift

Hi all, 
I have a "drift" problem with the FT 757 GX which is very annoying in CW.

It will randomly change frequency about 200Hz up then after a random
time will return to the original frequency-only to do it again in a
minute or 
two. The digital readout does not change. I do not know if it drifts
during transmit or not.
Will the CPU backup battery being about 8 years old cause a drift?
Any suggestions that I can try will be appreciated.
