Thanks for the reply.  The converter idea would be a good one if only Yaesu
made the FT-1000MP's receive I.F. (any I.F. for that matter) available on
the rear panel.  Kenwood has an I.F. jack on their late-generation
transceivers, and earlier Yaesu transceivers also made it available.  It's a
damn shame that one must modify his multi-kilobuck Yaesu radio to make it
work with a Yaesu station monitor.   I don't get it.

If it wasn't for the fact that the radio would loose it's market value upon
making the mod, I would do it.  Unfortunately, nobody wants to pay fair
market value for a modified after-market radio, even if the mod is done
correctly.
