[Yaesu] FT-920 / 2100A interfacing

We're using an FT-920 radio and a Yaesu 2100A amplifier on it.
We've noticed that the receive is noticably decreased
(attenuated) when the amplifier is on and active (not on standby). Is
this normal? Our last radio was a TS-440 and that didn't have this
problem at all.
