After having a good QSO with W8AE, I had my lunch and then took an
afternoon nap. Upon returning to the ham shack I found that my radio was
showing some illness.
VSWR indications were worse than normal, so I investigated
my wire dipole array. (Light rainfall here on Long Island today.) That
is another story.
I connected my dummy load antenna via my station antenna select switch
and found VSWR to be good but that the output RF power for all bands
to be no greater than abt 60 watts indicated output per the radio's watt
meter.
This happens with the TUNER disabled or enabled.
The Las Vegas diagnostic test of the display and its
microprocessor runs normally.
Vcc level appears to be normal.
Did I blow the finals in some way?
Could the lithium battery have gone dead, causing loss of memory data
and other problems? This radio is 1991 era and I have owned it since
1996 without changing the battery. Original owner is SK.
Should I do a master reset (SUB es ENT keys upon turning power on)?
I recall reading here something about a hard RESET, but not the details
of how to do that. I don t have a Maintenance Manual, only the operating
manual.
Any suggestions for what I can try here to isolate the cause of this
problem?
I get DIGESTmail from this reflector; please include direct eMail in
your response to enable a possible quicker solution.
Thanks, es 73s, de ~Vince~
